CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Active Learning Services, Ltd operates enrichment programs designed to stimulate creative thinking, improve thinking, logic and memory skills and give children "thinking alternatives" to sports camps and other summer programs. Our programs include chess programs and camps thru USA Chess, Our Gamebuilder Video Game Creation Programs and our Active Learning Computer Enrichment Programs.

Our staff is, comprised of the best children's chess instructors in North America! The USA Chess camps are uniquely qualified to cater to the needs of the advanced scholastic player as well as the true beginner. USA Chess hit its first milestone in the summer of 2000 producing the largest chess camp ever held in the United States, with more than 250 students enrolled. What was most surprising, however, was the amount of absolute beginners in attendance - more than 50% of the total enrollment was just starting to play chess. This realization led to the national rollout tour of 100 camps in more than 70 cities. The annual tours have been immensely successful with several thousand campers attending this year alone.

USA Chess thrives on providing a structured environment that is extremely conducive to learning chess. We handpick the best children's chess instructors from all over the United States and bring them to each camp. We believe our team is most effective in teaching chess to children of all ages and levels. The exceptional organization and ever-fun curriculum has fueled much interest from scholastic players and coaches from around the country, prompting them to request USA Chess camps in their areas.

At the same summer camp locations, we also offer the immensely popular Gamebuilder Video Game Creation Camps, The Active Learning Computer Animation Programs, and other Computer Enrichment Programs such as Modding, Networking and Hosting with Minecraft. We now offer seven unique programs in all.

At these camps, children are assigned a computer for the week; they spend the week learning to create their own one-of- a- kind video games in our Gamebuilder Camps, Animation Projects in our Animation Camps, also Modding, Networking and Hosting with Minecraft.

CAMP LOCATION: St. Stephen's Episcopal School campus occupies 300 acres of beautiful land, nestled in the Northwest Hills of Austin, Texas. Quite honestly, most people are shocked when they visit St. Stephens for the first time. It certainly doesn't look like your typical school campus. The minute you drive through the front gates you notice something different. Your’e immediately surrounded by thousands of trees. The buildings set into the hillside frame views of the lake and the surrounding hills. Even the athletic fields have views that look like they came right off a postcard.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have 44 buildings in all including classroom buildings, dorms, a gym, a black box space, a proscenium stage, practice rooms, a recital hall, and faculty houses. Arts facilities include the Helm Fine Arts Center featuring the Temple Family Theatre, a 410-seat performance venue and proscenium stage; a 100-seat recital hall; and an open-air portico overlooking Lake Austin. In addition to Helm, the campus boasts Hines Hall Black Box Theatre, two additional rehearsal/performance spaces, and the Clayton dance studio.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Philosophy: Texas Arts Project offers a personalized artistic journey combining inter-disciplinary course work, individual attention from industry professionals, artistic challenges encouraging growth, and a safe space for students from all backgrounds to overcome personal artistic obstacles. Fast-paced, professional-style rehearsals and film shoots allow campers to excel as both artists and people.

What separates Texas Arts Project from other summer programs? A Safe Environment St. Stephen's boarding school is tucked away on 300 acres of Texas hill country, with 24 hour security.

Quality Instruction: The faculty and staff members are chosen based on professional and instructional expertise. All faculty members are of the highest caliber as both artists and educators. There is no benchmark at TAP camp. We believe that with direction and motivation, each camper can push beyond his or her perceived personal limitations.

Individual Attention: The faculty and staff take pride in making sure all students receive personalized training. Teachers use the small classes as an opportunity to advance and enhance each student's personal journey.

Results: Campers leave with a sense of personal fulfillment, often exhibiting greater self-confidence, a deeper passion for their art form and a true commitment to themselves, their art, and the people around them. Our campers study acting, film, dance, musical theatre, and technical theatre at top universities around the world. We are equally proud of our campers in med school, law school, and business school. CAMP FACILITIES: When "The Heart" was first built, it was a resort hotel, so all our "tepees" have central air-conditioning. Older girls live in dormitory-style "tepees" with 10-12 girls and 2-3 counselors per room, indoor plumbing. All bunk beds are twin size.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Heart O' the Hills has been a summer camp for girls since 1953. Director Jane Ragsdale was a camper herself who always wanted to run a camp. She became program director when she was 21, and after 12 summers in that role, became director. 2015 was her 50th consecutive summer to be at camp in some capacity.

We offer two- and four-week sessions. All campers are asked to take Red Cross swim lessons, field sports and horseback riding. There is a list of some 50 electives that campers can choose from to round out their schedules, so there is something for everyone--from the most athletic to the most creative. The emphasis is on learning new skills in a fun environment.

New campers draw from a hat to determine tribe affiliation. The friendly competitive spirit of the tribes are infectious!

Campers leave their electronics at home and learn to live and relate to each other the old fashioned way.

Counselors arrive a minimum of one week before campers to take skills certification courses and learn all about how The Heart operates.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Heart LITes are too old to be campers but haven't had a year of college, so don't qualify to be counselors. They may apply to come as volunteers.
