CAMP PROGRAM INFO: YEA Camp is a unique and inspiring leadership summer camp for youth 12-17 who care about community service, activism and social justice. A week-long sleep-away program in a beautiful camp location, YEA is designed to be a fun and transformative experience that builds life-long friendships between youth with similar interests. Our program also provides a meaningful opportunity for campers to learn more about some of the issues facing our planet and to get inspired and empowered to take action on those issues.

Campers choose an issue of importance to them (for example, some have chosen climate change, racism, homophobia, homelessness, animal rights) and at YEA they build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and community to take action on that issue long after camp is over. Youth who have participated in our programs report that the camp was one of the most fun, rewarding and life-changing experiences they have had, and, with YEA's community support, have gone on to start school clubs, plan fundraisers for nonprofits, organize community clean-ups, and attend hearings to comment about important community issues.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our SUNY Purchase College location is a sprawling 500-acre campus located in the heart of beautiful Westchester County. It offers endless acres of playing fields, training areas, and 2 new floodlit turf, football, and baseball fields. As many as six full soccer fields, 12 short-sided fields, and NCAA regulation baseball and softball diamonds are expertly maintained for daily use. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: New Country Day Camp is an oasis for children growing up in New York City. All of our campers and staff ride the camp bus from stops in North Brooklyn and downtown Manhattan to the beautiful Henry Kaufman Campgrounds on Staten Island. Our older campers spend their mornings with their friends in camp groups of kids their age. In their groups, they'll have an opportunity to try all of our camp programs. In the afternoons, campers spend time in program units which they choose independently on Mondays, and which last the week through Friday.

CAMP FACILITIES: Campers stay in secure, clean, modern corridor-style residence halls dedicated to summer campers. Males and females are housed in separate buildings. When not in class or practice, students have lots of fun participating in a variety of recreational activities including outdoor games like "Capture the Flag" and "Ultimate Frisbee," indoor games, movies, visits to a nearby lake for picnics and campfires, hikes, relaxing and socializing at the village Coffee House and each camp closes with a farewell party the last night of their camp.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: French Woods Sports and Arts Center provides the summer of a lifetime in a safe, supportive, supervised and age appropriate environment. Campers completely determine which activities they will participate in. Children are offered a wide range of activities that include sports, arts, technology, extreme sports, circus, rock music, electronic music, dance, water sports, DJ and radio, theater, communications, magic, cooking, role playing games, and equestrian. All that and more rolled up together into one incredible summer experience!

There are six activities per day, each one hour in length; three of these periods are called majors and three are called minors.

Majors are chosen at the beginning of each session and are maintained for two weeks. Minors are chosen daily at breakfast. This lets you concentrate on the things that interest you, while giving you the chance to try something new.

Empowering our campers to feel good about themselves and their accomplishments can increase motivation to try harder, try new activities, continues to build self-confidence, and achieve self-efficacy. CAMP FACILITIES: Summit has approx. 30 traditional wooden cabins with electric and private facilities in each cabin. Our main buildings include our newly refinished dining hall, air-conditioned recreational hall, our medical facility, and a newly built outdoor pavilion. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Summit Camp is a co-ed sleepaway camp for ages 8-19 years with issues of attention: AD/HD, HFA/Asperger’s Disorder, and/or learning differences. Using the frame of a traditional sleepaway camp, we create platforms of success where our campers can experience outcomes such as improved self-esteem, lasting friendships, and increased independence. This is accomplished through a well-orchestrated and expertly staffed backdrop to a largely traditional camp experience- guided challenges, waterfront, adventure course, and more. CAMP FACILITIES: At Timber Lake West, Campers live in modern, paneled cabins called bunks. Each bunk is equipped with full bathrooms and storage space for each camper's belongings. Three to four counselors and eight to ten campers make up each bunk.

Campers make their beds, care for their own belongings and practice good personal hygiene. Our professional housekeeping staff maintains and sanitizes the bathrooms daily. A complete packing list and Parents' Manual make the process of preparing for camp as easy and convenient as possible.

The cabin or bunk is where campers learn to live together as a group, to share and to respect each other. We see bunk living as the core of the camp experience - central to our mission of teaching children the skills of making and keeping friends.

We believe that camp has to be safe and it has to be fun. That's what Timber Lake West is all about. We take all the fun, spirit, excitement and tradition of a full season camp experience and power pack it into four weeks.

Our athletic program includes clinics, instruction, inter-camp tournaments, and plenty of games played just for fun. We create the right balance between competition and good sportsmanship, allowing every camper to be comfortable joining in, while also promoting teamwork and spirit. At Timber Lake West, winning is great but our goal is that every camper walks off the field or court with more friends and feeling better about him or herself.

HARDCORE ATHLETICS:
Hardcore Sports is designed to provide extra instruction and drills in various sports for those campers who elect to work with extra intensity on their skills. The work-out sessions are held during an elective or swim period for those campers yearning to improve their skills, practice for upcoming tournaments or play at a higher level of competition. These campers get a chance to work on their mechanics through drills, practicing game situations, improving their mental preparation, building self-esteem and getting into or staying in great physical shape.

Two periods each day are devoted to swimming and water sports. Our emphasis is on safety, instruction and fun. Our experienced Red Cross certified waterfront staff provides special attention to improving swim skills with the main emphasis, of course, on safety. Timber Lake West's two heated pools set us apart from others. Our Olympic size pool makes free swim a favorite activity while our completely private spring-fed lake, right in the heart of camp, provides the thrill of water-skiing and an extensive boating program, featuring instruction in canoeing, kayaking, row boating, surf bikes, paddle bikes, banana boating and water skiing.

Adventure at Timber Lake West comes alive when our campers challenge themselves to try activities they have never done before. Whether it’s hiking in the mountains, scaling our 35 foot climbing wall or soaring down our zip line, camp is meant to be an adventure.

Our low ropes course gives campers the opportunity to work together toward a common goal while building friendships, self-esteem and self-confidence.

As part of our program each bunk meets with our trained and experienced staff on our low ropes/team building course and on overnight camp outs. As a cohesive unit, the campers work together to accomplish the goals that they set for themselves at the beginning of the four week session.

Each day campers select two activities from a wide variety of athletic, adventure oriented, and performing or creative arts electives. Combined with our scheduled sports and waterfront activities, the Elective periods allow campers to customize their summer program. With over thirty activities to choose from, our extensive electives feature experienced teachers and coaches to ensure that campers get the highest quality of instruction in the areas of their greatest interest:

Every Wednesday is uniquely programmed for our entire campus. After a well-deserved later wake-up and breakfast on our campus, campers head out to a special morning of electives. The afternoon is a scheduled activity! Dinner is our famed barbecue and then a special evening activity finishes out the day. EVENING ACTIVITIES:
Each evening is filled with a fun activity. Whether it's a “Broadway” production in our theatre, a campfire, masquerade social, outdoor games, contests or a late-night league game on one of our lighted courts, evening activities are among the best times of the day at Timber Lake West. Before bedtime, campers stop with friends at our Planet West Canteen, complete with snacks, Pop-a-Shot, ping pong, pool tables and air hockey.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our Teen programs are strong and we’re proud that we continue to attract returning older campers year after year. In spite of all of the other choices that high school-aged children have in today’s world, the large majority of our campers choose to return to Timber Lake West all the way through the end of their Teen summers.

The Timber Lake West Teen Program begins with diverse programming, more day trips out of camp, more choice and flexibility daily, a later wake-up (they ARE teenagers, after all), many community service opportunities and strong staff and supervision. Our Teens alternate between a two-day Whitewater Rafting trip or a two-day trip to Hershey/Dorney Parks.

Our Teens are also part of our apprenticeship program in camp, through which they choose a specialty area and an age group with which they think they might like to work. For several hours each week, they will be assigned to work with these groups so that they can get a feel for coming back as Junior Counselors.

We provide structure, supervision, feedback and training so that they are successful AND prepared to be part of our staff!

Magic, cauldrons, wands and spells! Campers will take a journey back to the Middle Ages and combine history with fantasy as we explore wizardry and magic.

Week of July 28: Weird Science
There’s chemistry in the kitchen and physics in the sand table. Campers will spend the week using the Scientific Method to answer questions and create a lot of wacky, wild and weird experiments.

Join us on a safari through the Africa’s rainforests and plains as campers learn about all of the flora and fauna that thrive in these fascinating habitats.

Week of August 11: CitiGallery
This week campers will learn about iconic artists and some of their most important work. Students will then create projects inspired by these greats and unleash their inner artists.
Week of August 18: Fairytales Can Come True
This final week of camp, children will take their favorite fairytales and bring them to life through dramatic play, art projects and storytelling.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have a lake, three swimming pools, large ball fields, a garden and a farm, a playground and separate courts for tennis, basketball, street hockey and volley ball. Our Outdoor Adventure program has special locations for climbing walls, obstacle/rope courses and zip lines. We have a series of individual workshops and studios for dance, music, theater, ceramics, wood, graphics, sculpture, photography, weaving and art.

These provide the opportunity for every child to discover the special satisfactions of creativity. There is a fully equipped indoor gymnastics center and a fencing shed. Special facilities feature excellent instruction in tennis and archery, fencing, track and field. There are also dormitories with bathrooms, where children store their belongings and change clothes. And, of course, there is a kitchen, dining rooms, and a well-equipped infirmary. If it rains, all our workshops, studios and covered facilities allow for continuing programs.

CAMP FACILITIES: Silver Lake is a picturesque camp, situated on over 300 acres of rolling green hills with a 96-acre private lake. Since opening in 2004, we have been busy improving and upgrading all of our facilities. During that time we have built all new bunks and renovated our basketball, tennis, and volleyball courts. We have also expanded our facilities over the past few summers by adding a new soccer field, "Monster" baseball field, skate park, Pool, and brand new state of the art Gymnastics Facility.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Michael and Shari Baer, owners of Camp Chipinaw, established Silver Lake in 2004 as a session camp that allowed campers to attend for 3, 4, or 7 weeks. Silver Lake incorporates all of the traditions, activities, and spirit of Chipinaw… but does it twice each summer! Simply put, we want to provide campers with the opportunity to go to camp for a shorter amount of time and still get the "full camp" experience.

With state of the art facilities and over 50 activities to choose from, Silver Lake offers a warm family feel. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Founded in 1968, the GO Project has a long history of serving public school children that are struggling academically. The GO Project currently serves 722 students in grades K-8 through our summer (GO Summer) and school year program (GO School). Unique to the GO Project model is the partnership we have developed with independent schools in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. These schools donate space and resources to the GO Project to enable us to operate our programs in a cost efficient manner. Enrichment Coordinator - Each afternoon during the summer, GO Project provides students with a variety of art and movement experiences that intentionally complement and support the morning academic periods. The GO Project is seeking Enrichment Coordinators to oversee the implementation of high quality enrichment programs with our elementary school students. Coordinators will directly supervise 5-10 Activity Specialists and act as a campus leader for one of four sites.

CAMP FACILITIES: The 443-acre property boasts beautiful wilderness, an 80-acre private and pristine lake, a mountaintop (Putnam Mountain), miles of mountain streams, an historic iron smelting furnace, and complete camp facilities. Main camp includes rustic buildings housing our camp office, staff house, infirmary, and dining hall. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Campers are grouped by similar age and discover their strengths and unique voices as we support them through the transition to adulthood. Little Notch connects girls of diverse backgrounds with each other, positive mentors, and the land. We provide opportunities to develop responsibility, resourcefulness, wellness, creativity, and teamwork skills. Activities include swimming, canoeing, sailing, team building, ropes course, yoga, creek walks, wildlife observation, hiking, outdoor cooking, arts and crafts, music, overnight camp-outs, and so much more!

All of our activities are opportunities for campers to practice living in harmony with nature, each other, and themselves. Guided by their counselors, campers choose from a wide variety of group-planned activities, which allow for skill development and personal challenge in a safe and fun environment. Unless noted, all campers are eligible to participate in these activities, though not all activities are offered every day. We strive to bring together a diverse staff. OTHER CAMP INFO: Campers start their morning at 7:30 am giving them time to dress and any personal care before going to the dining hall to enjoy breakfast. At all meals, the campers, staff and volunteers work together to set the table, serve the food family style, and end the meal by cleaning and putting away the dishes. After breakfast, "kapers" are next. Kapers are community responsibilities throughout the camp. The campers then enjoy many fun-filled, camper-planned activities. The campers enjoy staying busy throughout the morning with programs such as hiking, boating, swimming, games, and arts & crafts. Lunch is at 12:30 pm, followed by a busy afternoon of more activities and "me-time" (personal time) before dinner at 6:00 pm. The girls then go to "Singing Logs" to enjoy learning new songs while building fond memories with friends and counselors. Instructor: ERIC LAU is an alumnus of NYU's prestigious Graduate Film Program. He has worked in the film industry for 34 years. Lau has been a Director / Producer / Cinematographer for many commercials and feature films. In 2007, he directed and produced Elevator Weekend which won the Official Selection category for both the Staten Island Film Festival and Long Island International Film Festival. He has produced and directed international TV commercials for Snapple, Toyota, China Unicom, and Blue Man Group among others, and garnered numerous awards including the Telly Award and the Gold and Silver Awards for the Taiwanese Annual TV Advertisement Awards.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Filmmaking Afterschool Program
Solar’s afterschool program offers children ages 13-18 enormous fun and a great learning experience. Kids will work in teams to learn how to write, shoot, edit, and direct films. We offer a hands-on filmmaking workshop, promoting storytelling in a fun, textbook-free environment.

Rolling River’s summer camp program runs for 38 days from July through late August. All campers have the option to attend RRDC for a straight 4 or 8 weeks, any 4 weeks or any 29 days.

CAMP FACILITIES: Each of our cabins is equipped with complete bathrooms/ showers, electricity, porches and plenty of space. (No bunk beds!) Cabins are designed to hold between 5-8 campers with a minimum of 3 staff members living in each cabin so that we can maintain our 2:1 camper counselor ratio.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Located along a secluded nine-mile lake in the Adirondacks of New York State is a private/ independent seven-week residential camp for 130 children from across the United States and around the world. Camp Northwood is oriented toward children with low self-esteem, immature social skill development, high functioning autism, Asperger's Syndrome and learning challenges in need of a structured and supportive, socially therapeutic summer experience. Northwood's program, developed and supervised by an outstanding staff of special educators, focuses on the development of independence, social skills, self-image and the maintenance of academic skills.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Laurel Project program, designed for children, will encourage students to learn the Chinese culture and language in a creative and participatory environment.
