CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Founded in 2014 by Austin parents Allan and Heather Staker, Brain Chase is the product of his filmmaking/tech background and her online education expertise. They are both Harvard-educated and their 5 children were the inspiration behind the creation of this revolutionary new summer program
Brain Chase is a 6-week summer learning challenge disguised as a massive global treasure hunt for 2nd−8th graders. A golden globe has been buried somewhere on earth – and it contains the key to a safe deposit box holding a $10,000 college scholarship fund. Participants who complete an hour of online summer learning activities each day will unlock secret animated webisodes that hold the clues to the globe’s whereabouts. Guess the treasure’s location first, and you’ll be the one on a plane to dig it up.
Enrollment is limited to the first 5,000 entrants.
Kickoff is June 30. Last registration July 18.
- See more at: Our Camp Website Link: brainchase.com
CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Additional children from same household are half off for each registration.
OTHER CAMP INFO: You spend 10 months of every year in school, but much of that hard work likely vanishes during summer break. Who wants to do boring worksheets when school’s out? Brain Chase is a summer enrichment program that’s FUN. Action-packed animations, mysterious packages in the mail, and the hunt for buried treasure turn learning into an adventure. It’s FLEXIBLE. You’ll do the challenge when you want, where you want, and at your own pace. And it’s CUSTOMIZED. You get to work at your own level. - See more at: Our Camp Website Link: brainchase.com

TYPE OF CAMP: Overnight/Sleepaway.
CAMPER GENDER(S): Coed Campers.
BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: VISIONS programs are grounded in a philosophy that has been changing the lives of teenagers for 30 years. We believe it is best to do one thing and do it well. That’s why across all programs we have one model, built on the pillars of meaningful service, full cultural immersion and open-minded exploration. This is not a teen tour. This is a time to step outside of yourself, to do more and be more.
Our student volunteers work among Blackfeet and Northern Cheyenne people on Montana Indian reservations and with indigenous Athabascans in Alaska, as well as abroad in South and Central America, the Caribbean and Cambodia.
CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Academics, Fine Arts/Crafts, Soccer, Horses/Equestrian, Waterfront/Aquatics, Adventure, Travel, Wilderness/Nature, and more. Community Service, Language Immersion.
CAMP LOCATION: We have locations around the world including: Alaska, Montana, Dominican Republic, British Virgin Islands, Ecuador, Peru, and Guadeloupe.
▌Read More about VISIONS Service Adventures
CAMP FACILITIES: For all of our program we stay in the heart of the community. Depending on location, we stay in schools, community centers, and rented homes.
CAMP PROGRAM INFO: For thirty years, VISIONS has set the standard for domestic and international community service programs for high school and middle school students. We strongly believe that collaborative service work and cross-cultural living help our teen volunteers understand a complicated world and learn meaningful ways to contribute productively.
VISIONS collaborates with local nonprofits and makes long-term commitments in our communities. We have worked in most locations for more than 15 years, and in some places for more than 20 years. You typically get to choose from three different worksites during the week, and work until mid-afternoon. Our community service projects are a way we thank the local friends who welcome us into their lives.
Cultural learning and friendship are core to VISIONS. You experience the culture in a way that is unique from being a tourist. You share common goals and work with local people to achieve those goals. You may be surprised by what you have in common with people whose lives are so different from your own.
All of our summer leaders are CPR and First Aid certification and undergo extensive training at the Montana homebase before departing to the program location. All leaders have reference and background checks, extensive training, and first aid certifications at minimum. Leaders include teachers, outdoor educators, Masters and Ph.D. students, returned Peace Corps volunteers, carpenters, and other professionals.

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
POSITION: SUMMER COMMUNITY SERVICE TRIP LEADER
LOCATIONS: Alaska, British Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic, Galápagos Islands, Guadeloupe, Montana reservations, Peru
TYPE OF POSITION: Seasonal
OVERVIEW
VISIONS offers summer programs for teens that focus on meaningful community service, cultural immersion and adventure. Co-ed groups of 16 - 25 teens and 4 - 6 leaders live and work together in the heart of a host community.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Leaders attend 7-10 days of on-site training before participants arrive for the program(s).
Leaders supervise and mentor teens during 12-day to 4-week programs. Some locations have back-to-back sessions with a few days of break in between. Leaders work with and supervise students in all aspects of the program: service projects, recreational activities, cross-cultural events, and even day to day chores such as cooking and cleaning. The first priority is creating a positive and productive experience for the participants that cultivates growth and global understanding.

We have long-term ties to the places we work, and thus are a part of the community. Leaders work hard, but the work is incredibly fulfilling when it’s the right fit.
